Founder & Principal

Nikul (“Nik”) Patel is an experienced corporate attorney and strategic advisor who serves as Founder and Principal of Apex Strategic Counsel, a fractional general counsel and corporate advisory practice serving public companies, growth-stage businesses, founders, executives, and investors.

Nik previously served as General Counsel of a NYSE-listed public company, where he advised executive leadership and the board of directors on complex legal, regulatory, governance, litigation, financing, and strategic matters in a high-growth and highly regulated environment. His practice focuses on corporate governance, SEC compliance, strategic transactions, litigation management, AI and technology advisory, and commercial contracting.

Over the course of his career, Nik has built a reputation for delivering practical, business-oriented legal leadership in situations involving significant complexity, operational scale, and strategic risk. He has worked extensively with boards of directors, audit committees, executive management teams, investors, auditors, regulators, and outside advisors on high-stakes matters requiring sound judgment, discretion, and execution.

Prior to serving as General Counsel, Nik practiced at a leading international law firm, advising public and private companies on complex corporate transactions, governance matters, litigation strategy, and regulatory issues. His experience spans a broad range of industries, including technology, gaming, digital platforms, and emerging growth companies.

Across more than 12 years of practice, Nik has helped lead matters involving more than $1.5 billion in mergers and acquisitions transactions, negotiated and restructured commercial agreements that improved profit margins by 25% to 36%, and managed offensive litigation strategies.

Nik’s approach combines the sophistication of top-tier law firm training with the practical judgment of an in-house executive. He focuses on helping clients navigate growth, governance, crisis management, operational scaling, and strategic decision-making while using legal strategy as a driver of business value and competitive advantage.
